El Ezer
Sunday Worship Service — 13 September 2026
Scripture: Psalm 5:2
|
Message at a Glance David, a king, began his morning by crying out to a greater King for help. The Holy Spirit's word for this season is El Ezer — God is my help. When every option is closed, when the battle is bigger than you, when you cannot even fight for yourself, the Lord Himself steps in: He sends helpers at the right time, He gives you a vision, and He grants victory without stress. And because Jesus has overcome the world, His help reaches into all four worlds that shape your life — the natural, the spiritual, the political and the financial. |
|

A King Who Cried for Help
The message this morning begins with the second verse of Psalm 5. It is a Psalm written by David, and the one word the Holy Spirit impressed on the pastor's heart as he prepared it was El Ezer — God is my help. The Lord Himself shall help us.
|
Psalm 5:2 Give heed to the voice of my cry, My King and my God, For to You I will pray. |
Notice how the newer translations render this verse. The NLT, the Amplified Bible, the NIV and the Good News Translation all carry an expression you may not have heard in Malayalam: “Heed the sound of my cry for help, my King and my God, for it is to You that I pray.” That phrase, my cry for help, is the heart of the whole message. (The Hebrew word ezer means “help,” the same word you know from Ebenezer, “stone of help.” El Ezer is simply “God my help.”)
Look at somebody and say it: the Lord Himself will help you. He will help you and me; our God Himself will help us. Whatever issue you are going through today, say it with courage: “Regarding my issue, my God Himself will help me.” Open your mouth and say, “My God will help me.”
Think about the picture. In the morning, if it were us, we would check WhatsApp to see if any messages had come, or reach for the newspaper, or ask for tea. But early in the morning, David — a king — is saying, “God, I am crying out to You for my help. You are my King.” David is a king, yet he is saying, “You are the King of kings. Even though I am a king, I need help.”
Whether you are a simple person or the CEO of a big company, whether you are a man or a woman, your help must be your God. You may have money, a position in life, relationships — but your help is your God. God is El Ezer, my helper. Open your mouth and say, “It is God who helps me. My help is my God.”
“What some people have achieved in a lifetime, some of you will achieve within years — because God will help you. What some took a whole lifetime to achieve, you will achieve in months and years, because God is your help.” The Holy Spirit is giving this message to someone today.
If you are not jealous of the person sitting next to you, tell them, “God will help you.” The Holy Spirit touched on four aspects of God's help today. But before any of them, know this one thing: there is a God who knows your issue, a God who hears your cry, a God who hears the cry of the church, a God who hears your prayer. And in answer to your prayer, He is going to reveal Himself as El Ezer, God our helper.
When Does Help Come?
As you read further down Psalm 5, you see the setting. David is surrounded by enemies. He is surrounded by worry and anxiety; there are many anxious thoughts in his heart. It is anxiety and stress. But in the midst of all of that, he lifts his eyes up to his King.
You may see anxious thoughts within you. You may see fears; you may see pressures. In the midst of that, do not look at yourself — look at God. If you lift your hands and lift your eyes today, there is a Shepherd who helps you. He is a good Shepherd, His name is Jesus. He is a King; He is Lord. When you need His help, when you run out of all options, when there is no other way and every path is closed — that is when you need God's help.
This is prophetic. This is a message for those who feel all their options and all their paths are closed, and who are worried about where their help will come from. God says, “I will reveal Myself as El Ezer. I will reveal Myself as the God who helps you.”
“When your situation looks final; when you feel you have reached the very end; when you feel you have gone from the frying pan to the fire; when you have stepped into impossibilities; when you are exhausted beyond yourself and feel you are finished; when your mind is tired; when your spirit is crushed; when you have tried everything and everything has failed — there is a King who watches over you. There is a God who is interested in you. When it looks like people have forgotten you, there is a God who has not forgotten you and wants to help you. He wants to reveal Himself to you as El Ezer. He is willing to cause a turnaround in your life. This day, God is faithful to help you and turn your situations around.” Those who receive it, receive it in the Holy Spirit.
Victory Without Stress
He will fight for you when you cannot even fight for yourself. Some battles are not won by your strength, but by your surrender. It is in your surrender that you reach God.
Some battles are not won by your strength, but by your surrender.
Jehoshaphat was a great king, but fear came upon him (2 Chronicles 20). It is okay to fear. Fear will come; adversities will be all around. But in the midst of it, Jehoshaphat lifted his eyes to God, and the word that came back was this:
|
2 Chronicles 20:15 And he said, “Listen, all you of Judah and you inhabitants of Jerusalem, and you, King Jehoshaphat! Thus says the Lord to you: ‘Do not be afraid nor dismayed because of this great multitude, for the battle is not yours, but God’s. |
The battle belongs to the Lord. Not by our army, not by strength, not by cleverness, not by ability, not by power. Today this is being called out over the whole congregation: the battle belongs to the Lord. We are surrendered before Jesus; we are submitted before the Shepherd. Open your mouth and say it: “The battle belongs to the Lord.”
Do you know what the result is when the battle belongs to the Lord? Victory without stress. Some of you are stepping into it in the name of Jesus, and the church is going to step into that in the name of Jesus.
When the battle belongs to the Lord, the result is victory without stress.
Pastor shared where this word came from. The whole of last week was spent travelling over one matter concerning the church — if you did not see him at the evening prayer, it was because he was not in town. Finally, last night, he went before the Lord and said, “Lord, I am exhausted, I am tired. I don't think I have the strength to stand and preach tomorrow.” That was when God sent this message: “I will give you victory without stress. I will reveal Myself as El Ezer, the God who helps.” His name is Jesus.
How Does He Help?
He helps you by sending you helpers at the right time. Say yes to it: “God will intervene for me by sending helpers at the right time.” These are divine connections that do not manipulate. God will raise up for us people who come forward sincerely, from their hearts, to help — without exploiting.
“God will raise up people to help you from places you least expect.” Open your mouth and say, “From places I least expect, God will help me.”
When God helps, when He reveals Himself as El Ezer, it is not merely that a problem finds a solution. It will reveal the glory of God. When divine help comes, there will be visible proof within it that it was God who helped you. You say it in faith today: look at the challenge in your life and say, “Visible proof will be revealed in this — that it was my God who helped me.”
“Whether it is in your career, your family life, your business, your wealth, your ministry, your academics, your health — even in the matter of your generations — God will do visible proofs for you as a sign that God helped you.” Those who receive it, receive it in the Spirit.
|
Psalm 121:1-2 I will lift up my eyes to the hills—From whence comes my help? My help comes from the Lord, Who made heaven and earth. |
The outpouring of the Holy Spirit is in this. You thought you were alone. You thought you were left to cry by yourself. The Holy Spirit will give you a joy that replaces your crying. You are not alone; God has not forgotten you. He knows the number of your hairs, He knows your name, He knows the place where you dwell, He knows your issue, He knows your distress, He knows your difficulty. The God you called on for help is faithful; His name is Jesus.
Look at somebody, give them a high five, and tell them, “God will show up for you.” Shake hands with the person beside you and say it again. Then hug them and say, “You are not alone. You are not by yourself. There is a God who saw your crying. God will show up for you” — for we have a very, very big God.
Supernatural Assistance Over Delay and Stagnation
God's help means supernatural assistance. Divine help is God's intervention over delays and stagnation — God stepping into states of delay and lack of progress. You are struggling every day. But if you pray, if you call out from your heart in the name of Jesus, if you wake up in the morning and look at His face, meditate on His word and call upon His name, then your stagnation, the breakdown in your life — all of these have time limits. They have an expiry date.
“The expiry date of some people's hardship is today. Your bondage of sickness is breaking away today in the name of Jesus. Help will come faster than you think. God Himself will lift up your burden; God will carry your burdens. The burden you are carrying this day, the hand of Jesus is taking it away today.”
El Ezer means the God who will take care of that issue by helping you — He will take away your burden, He will lift it from you.
As the Spirit moved, Pastor named what the Lord was touching: someone's goiter, the swelling and the difficulty with it — this day the Holy Spirit is taking it away. Somebody's goiter is being healed.
God will help you in a very quiet way. He will help you quietly, and yet powerfully. And this season will end only with a testimony that brings glory to the name of Jesus.
“Is there someone here who was intimidated in a board meeting or somewhere else? I will intervene for you. I will move My hand for you. I will reveal Myself as El Ezer in your life. For those burdened by financial strain, worried about how to move forward — I will be your help. Some of you have felt overlooked; some of you have felt very guilty in your head — but I will help you. There are those in fear that everything they have earned until now will be lost — I will help you. I will fight for you even in unseen battles. In situations where you are discouraged because of slow progress in your life — I will help you. My work will be revealed
for you in such a way that I will push you from behind and bring you to the front.” The Holy Spirit says this.
Is this helping somebody this morning? Here is one thing to watch out for. You should notrehearse your problem in your mind; you should rehearse how big your God is.What you rehearse in your mind must not be your pain, your guilt or your shame. What you rehearse must be God's promise and God's work. If you rehearse “God will work for me,” then very quickly God will bring you from behind to the front.
Do not rehearse your problem in your mind. Rehearse
how big your God is.
Boldly Say It: The Lord Is My Helper
|
Hebrews 13:5-6 Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” So we may boldly say: “The Lord is my helper; I will not fear. What can man do to me?” |
What can man do to me? Can we say it with courage — with boldness? Hasn't God said, “I will never leave you”? If God has said it, we can boldly say, “The Lord Himself is my helper.” If God has said in His word that He will never leave you, then you should boldly say what God has said: “God is my help. I will not fear man. God will help me.” Lift your voice and say it boldly.
Scripture also says, “I will make my boast in the Lord.” I will boast in my God. And here is the pastor's play on words: if you will boast in the Lord and boast in what He has said, your life will have a boost. Even if you never drink a Boost, God Himself will help you and give you a boost. If you need a boost up in life, you must say with your own mouth what God has said — boast in the Lord, boast in what He said.
Therefore open your mouth and say, “Because God said He will not forsake me, I will boldly say: God is my help. God Himself is my help. My help is my God Himself.”
|
Psalm 46:1 God is our refuge and strength, A very present help in trouble. |
In distress, He is a present help — a very present help in times of trouble. When trouble comes, the thought the devil usually puts inside us is that God is not with us: “If God were with you, why did trouble come?” But God is saying, “I am your very present help. I am not absent; I am present. I am your very present help in times of trouble.”
Is anybody going through trouble? It is not that God is not with you. Your trouble is the greatest proof that He is present with you. At the Red Sea, God was there with Moses. When David stood before Goliath, that was trouble — but God was there. In your time of distress, in your time of trouble, He is a very present help. Be conscious of Jesus with you. Look at somebody, give them a high five, and tell them, “Be conscious that Jesus is with you.”
Why the Anointed Ones Stand
Remember Paul's life. Last week we said he looked like a loner — but he wasn't a loner; he had a team. Even beyond that, there is a word Paul used that teaches us. Standing before King Agrippa, this is what he said:
|
Acts 26:22 Therefore, having obtained help from God, to this day I stand, witnessing both to small and great, saying no other things than those which the prophets and Moses said would come— |
Did you notice? Standing before King Agrippa, Paul says, “I stand to this day because I have God's help.” Not because he became smart; not because he became capable. Pastor said he has the same testimony today: “I stand. Do you know why? Because God is helping me.”
Here is one thing to see about the Kingdom of God. God's anointed ones do not stand because they are great people, not because they are smart or capable, but because God helps them. In the pastor's words: “I might be the weakest among you, I might be the least educated, I might be the least capable — but do you know why I stand here? Because God's hand, El Ezer, is helping me.” Open your mouth today and say, “God will be my helper. God will back me up.”
What El Ezer Means
So, El Ezer — divine help — means divine assistance over a matter or situation whereyou can do nothing. In a matter where you cannot do anything, God assists you. When the challenge is bigger than you, when the test is bigger than you, when the challenges and trials are bigger than you — that is God stepping in as El Ezer. When the challenges you face in life make you afraid, God is bigger than that. When the situation you are going through makes you afraid, God is bigger than that.
Pastor recalled meeting a few people the other day — all of them mighty people, mighty on this earth. Before he went there, God told him, “They are mighty people, but I am God Almighty. Yes, they are mighty, but I am God Almighty, and I will help you.” The problems you are facing might be mighty, but we worship God Almighty. His name is Jesus. Lift your hand and say, “The Lord will help me.”
They are mighty people, but I am God Almighty — and I will help you.
|
Psalm 60:11 Give us help from trouble, For the help of man is useless. |
The Helper Within You
The third person of the Trinity, the Holy Spirit, is called the Helper. When you see challenges in your life, you should not look at them. If you are born again — if you have accepted Jesus as your own Saviour and Lord, if you believe that Jesus' blood washed you from sin and purified you, if you believe the Lord has justified you — then the One who comes and dwells within you is the Holy Spirit, the third person of the Trinity. In Bible terms, the Holy Spirit is called the Counsellor, the Paraclete (Greek paraklÄ“tos, “one called alongside”), which means the Helper — the One who helps me.
|
John 14:26 But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you. |
So when you say, “God will help me,” it is the Holy Spirit inside of you who will help you. How will He help? Here is a secret — the mystery of finding help. When you start praying, when you pray in the Holy Spirit (and we continue our prayer this week too; every day at 7 PM we continue to pray), when you start praying about a matter, God will intervene by giving you a vision. In the last days, the Lord said, I will pour out My Spirit upon all flesh — and your young men will see visions.
|
Acts 2:17 ‘And it shall come to pass in the last days, says God, That I will pour out of My Spirit on all flesh; Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, Your young men shall see visions, Your old men shall dream dreams. |
So, to bring you out of that matter, God will give a vision. Many people do not discern it. He will give a vision, and there may seem to be no connection between the vision and the problem you are facing. But if a vision comes, remember: even if you are ninety years old, you are young — because young men will see visions. The pastor put it this way: “I'm staying young because I see visions.” If you see visions from the Holy Spirit, you will stay young.
“I prophesy and I speak it over your life: even when you are a hundred, may you see visions from the Holy Spirit. May you stay young for the glory of God.” Come on, church — lift your voice and give a shout to Jesus.
When Abraham was going through great trouble, what God gave him was a vision. God told Abraham to stop trying to give the land away, and said instead, “Lift up your eyes.”
|
Genesis 13:14-15 And the Lord said to Abram, after Lot had separated from him: “Lift your eyes now and look from the place where you are—northward, southward, eastward, and westward; for all the land which you see I give to you and your descendants forever. |
“I will give you what you see.” Do you understand? If you see it, it becomes yours. If God shows it to you, it is yours. If you see nothing, you get nothing. If you see, God gives. And if you see, you stay young — youthful energy will keep coming back. Those over seventy, raise your hands: youthful energy! May you see visions.
If you see it, it is yours. If you see nothing, you receive nothing.
God will help. Say it again: God will help. God will help us overcome this problem we are facing. Say, “God will help us to overcome.”
Help to Overcome Four Worlds
|
John 16:33 These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.” |
Jesus said, “In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.” The pastor mentioned a report he was reading yesterday on the happiest nations in the world: Finland at the top, most of the Scandinavian nations near it, Denmark in fourth place. India is at 118. Bangladesh is at 110. Somalia is at 78. Even Iran is at 105 — missiles being fired, falling here and there, and yet they are happy. Why are you not happy? India is at 118, and here the Lord is saying, be of good cheer, for I have overcome the world.
When Jesus said He has overcome the world, He gave a command with it: therefore you be happy — “be of good cheer,” as it is put in English — for I have overcome the world. As we sit here, there are four worlds around us that dictate our lives, four worlds that influence our world. In all four of these places, God must reveal Himself as our help. Whether your life is a success or not is decided by these four worlds.
- The Natural World
There is a natural world, and Jesus overcame it. Look at Jesus — what a man! Look at His message — what a message! Look at His miracles — amazing. The Lord was hungry one day; He looked at the fig tree, it had only leaves and no fruit, and the Lord cursed it. But there is one thing to learn from the Lord here. We have never seen the Lord with a belly — not even a trolley. Among ten thousand He is the most beautiful. Do you know why? The body the Lord had — He did not eat like us. The Lord would eat only when He was hungry. We feel like eating everything the moment we see food.
A light aside from the pastor: tell the person next to you, if you want to lose weight, don't feel like eating whenever you see food; eat only when you are hungry. That is Jesus — He handled natural things naturally, and He walked on water. He overcame the natural world.
- The Spiritual World
At the same time, there is a spiritual world — even as we sit here. There are God's angels there. Whether you believe it or not, there are demons; there are territorial spirits. But Jesus was victorious over every demonic power; He dominated the spiritual realm. That is why the Lord told the church, “I have overcome the world.” Even though He was speaking about the natural world, the principle holds across all four worlds, and there is a spiritual world.
Pastor then ministered into the invisible realm: behind an illness there may sometimes be a demonic hand — he rebuked it in Jesus' name, and declared that any growth, that lump, must leave just like that and be healed in the name of the Lord. Behind financial distress there may sometimes be a demonic hand — today in Jesus' name the church takes authority over it and rebukes it. In the midst of family problems there is often the devil's hand — you must rebuke it.
Jesus overcame the natural world, and there are laws in the natural world — we have all studied the law of gravity, the law of lift, and so on. There are laws in the spiritual world too. If you want to dominate in the spiritual world, if you want to see God's help, you must know the spiritual laws.
One of those laws is the law of faith: “My righteous one shall live by faith.” Another is the law of submission — the law of being subject. Remember the centurion who said, “I am a man under authority; if You just say a word, my servant at home will be healed.” He was saying, “I myself am subject to authority; therefore, just say a word.” If you want to dominate the spiritual realm, there are laws of submission, there are laws of faith, and there is a law of love. When you walk within these, you will dominate the spiritual realm. But if you walk without being subject to anyone, you won't be able to dominate the spiritual realm — at some point it will hit you.
- The Political World
Third, there is a political world. In Luke 13:32, Herod is looking for Jesus — a political dynasty. And notice how Jesus answered.
|
Luke 13:32 And He said to them, “Go, tell that fox, ‘Behold, I cast out demons and perform cures today and tomorrow, and the third day I shall be perfected.’ |
He did not say, “Tell Mr. Herod.” The Lord was addressing the character behind the man, the inner nature: “Go, tell that fox — I will cast out demons today and tomorrow, I will perform healings, I will do all the ministry that God the Father has entrusted to Me, for God's glory.” May God help you to overcome every political challenge you face in life.
And a word to the church: we don't have politics here. Are you with me? Don't play politics in the church, and don't bring politics into the church. We will pray for our leaders — that is what the Word says — so that we might dwell peacefully on the earth.
Jesus did not even soften His words; the Lord was dominating Herod. (Had He been Japanese, the pastor joked, He might have said “Konnichiwa” — but not here.) Jesus was not intimidated by political power. Jesus overcame that world because He was focused on His mission.
- The Financial World
Fourth, there is a financial world.
|
Matthew 17:27 Nevertheless, lest we of end them, go to the sea, cast in a hook, and take the fish that comes up first. And when you have opened its mouth, you will find a piece of money; take that and give it to them for Me and you.” |
Did you notice? When it was said that Jesus did not pay the tax, Jesus is saying that what is owed to the government should be given to the government. Those who pray should give what is owed to the government — don't cheat. But notice what He did there. Judas was the treasurer — can you imagine, Jesus had a personal treasurer, entrusted with looking after the finances. Yet the Lord did not say, “Go and ask Judas.” The Lord said, “You go to the sea” — I am going to open up a new source for you.
“This day the Holy Spirit is giving a message: for some, God is opening a new source of finances. I am going to open up a new source for you.” Say, “I receive it in Jesus' name.” Open your mouth and say, “There is a new source that God is opening for me.”
Go to the sea and cast a hook. If you go to the sea and cast a hook, you only get one fish. If He had said to cast a net, that would have been easier to understand — but behind every financial deliverance there is obedience. And when you cast a hook, He did not say “the biggest fish you catch”; He said “the first fish that comes up.” The first. The first is always for God — the first that fits the hook.
Don't use your own intelligence here. Don't say, “If I get the biggest one, I will get the goodness from within it.” Don't say, “If it's a big business contract, if it's a big matter, then our work is done.” Sometimes it is the first — whichever it is, whichever door is opened, step into it. Behind it, God has kept the goodness you need.
And it is not the fish that is your blessing. He told Peter to put his hand inside the fish's mouth. Some think their blessing is their job — it's not the job; there is a salary you get from the job. It's not the business; there is something you get from the business. But what God has kept for you is inside it. If you want to dominate financially, you must look a little deeper. If you look a little deeper, there is something God has kept for you inside this.
A gold coin — inside the fish's mouth. Say it: the fish's mouth. Life and death, blessing and curse — everything is inside the mouth. Your prosperity itself: “I delight in the Lord” and “He delights in the prosperity of His servant.” When you delight in the Lord and trust in His word, He will delight in your prosperity. But you must say it with your own mouth. You must say that you dominate financially, dominate spiritually for the glory of God, and dominate wealth naturally — all with your mouth. May God anoint your mouth; may the fullness of the Holy Spirit be within you.
“I want you all to be so godly rich that your neighbours will wonder where you are getting it from — thinking he must be doing some smuggling or something drug-related. May God open such wealth for you and for this church in the name of Jesus.” Those who receive it, lift your hands and say, “I receive it in the name of Jesus.”
Pastor added that he has many experiences of this, because God has blessed him: God can show you where your money is, where your blessing is.
Lift Your Voice
This is the help of God: help to overcome all four worlds — the natural world, the spiritual world, the political world and the financial world. El Ezer, the help of God, for you to dominate, to overcome, and to have the strength to be blessed in all four worlds in your life. Lift your voice and shout out to Jesus: “Thank You, Jesus. Jesus is enough for me. I give myself to You. There is no rest other than in Your bosom.”
