Favour for Divine settlement

Sunday Sermon by Pastor Rajesh Mathew, 5 July 2020

1 Peter 5: 10- But [a]may the God of all grace, who called [b]us to His eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a while, [c]perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle you.

  • Underline the words settle you.
  • The Holy Spirit is saying Favour for divine settlement.
  • The Lord Himself has to settle some matters. He is a God of settlement.
  • God of all grace is also God of all favour

It is your TIME and it is your TURN to experience, walk in God’s favour.

  • Declare that it is your time and your turn, receive it for you and your family.
  • It is not unscriptural to be challenged. It is unscriptural to have a prolonged challenge. It is not God’s will to have challenges, difficulties and problems for long periods of time.
  1. Challenges are for a moment

2 Corinthians 4:17- For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory,

  • It is only for a moment. God will not allow problems in your life to stay longer than it should. Today the Lord is putting an end to certain long drawn problems and challenges. It may be financial difficulties, diseases or whatever it is, the Lord is putting an end to it.
  1. Challenges can unsettle you.
  • Many challenges can be there. But they won’t remain forever.

Don’t allow certain things that are not of God to remain in your life. If you accept certain traits of your life, it will remain in your life.

  • Any traits and any aspect that are not in line with God’s Word, either in your life or in the life of your family members, should leave. Let that challenge be broken, you decree that prophetically. Let the Holy Spirit release those words into your mouth.

Ezekiel 21:27- Overthrown, overthrown, I will make it overthrown! It shall be no longer, Until He comes whose right it is, And I will give it to Him.”

  • He will overturn.
  • The Lord is saying thrice. I will overturn overturn overturn certain things. God Himself will turn a few things around for you. That is favour.

He will turn those that are negative into positives into your life.

  • By His favour, certain accusations, bondages and sicknesses will overturn in my Life. What I cannot turn on my own will be overturned by the Holy Spirit.
  • Declare---It won’t remain forever in my depression, my financial lack. My children will be fruitful and will turn to be people who will walk in the blessing of God.

Philippians 1:19- 9 For I know that this will turn out for my deliverance through your prayer and the supply of the Spirit of Jesus Christ,

  • It will turn around. This problem will turn to my salvation, for my blessing.

Romans 8:28- Amplified version- 8 And we know [with great confidence] that God [who is deeply concerned about us] causes all things to work together [as a plan] for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to His plan and purpose.

  • When God is my partner He will turn everything for my good.

Luke 21:13 (KJV) - 3 But it will turn out for you as an occasion for testimony.

  • It shall turn to you for a testimony
  • When you will be challenged and accused and made to stand before kings. Whatever you face will turn for your testimony. If it is a disease, or matters that you feel have no solutions to, God will overturn it for your good and show forth as Christ is your partner and will turn you to be a testimony of God.

Psalm 126:1- When the Lord brought back [a]the captivity of Zion, We were like those who dream.

  • Some of you are depressed because of the lockdown; you are wondering what will happen. You can’t open your shop, you can’t go out, but the Lord is going to turn it around for you. It will be as a dream. You will be amazed that your debts are cancelled, the cancer has left! It will truly feel like a dream.
  • There are such experiences ahead of you. He is God of favour and God of glory who will settle you!

IT IS NOT UNSCRIPTURAL TO GO THROUGH A CHALLENGE BUT IT IS UNSCRIPTURAL FOR THAT CHALLENGE TO RISE UP A SECOND TIME.

  • Again and again is not your portion!
  • You go for a driving test, but you can’t keep thinking that you need to keep going for driving tests each time you want to drive, you go for the test only once. Just once. It is done and dusted!

The Holy Spirit is saying that God’s favour is coming upon somebody who is repeating exam papers in some subject. God is pushing you forward into the next level.

  • Your present test is somebody’s past success. Somebody else went through your test in the past and that brother passed 10/10. He has had a good testimony; that should motivate you. Somebody else has battled that disease and been totally healed.

Pastorʼs anecdote: My children say, why should I go to school? I tell her, I too went. It may seem like this huge mountain and a huge challenge but people have gone though it in the past.

1 Peter 5:9- Resist him, steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same sufferings are experienced by your brotherhood in the world.

  • Tel yourself, ‘I am not alone’. There are people with bigger debts than me and they have come out of it. There are people who have fallen into bigger pits than I have and they have come out of it and are glorifying God.
  • There may be many challenges against our marriage but there have been marriages with bigger struggles. We will come out of it.
  • People tell me, “My issues is different pastor. You won’t understand.”
  • You are not alone. The Holy Spirit is strengthening and comforting somebody who is listening.

IT IS NOT UNSCRIPTURAL FOR YOU TO GO THROUGH A CHALLENGES BUT IT IS UNSCRIPTURAL FOR YOU TO BE MOVED BY THOSE CHALLENGES

1 Thessalonians 3:3- that no one should be shaken by these afflictions; for you yourselves know that we are appointed to this

  • Don’t be moved. Be strong!
  • Whatever form of challenges hit you, you will come out. Whatever shape the challenge may be in, you will come out.

God is your partner. He will stay with you right till the very end.

1 Peter 5:10-But [a]may the God of all grace, who called [b]us to His eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a while, [c]perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle you.

  • Suffering is only for a while

2 Corinthians 6:2- In an acceptable time I have heard you, And in the day of salvation I have helped you.” Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.

  • Some challenges will leave now! NOW IS THE TIME OG GOD”S FAVOUR! Let certain healings take place now!
  • Don’t wait for the next fasting and prayer. Do you have the faith for this now? Let that bondage break now. Let that problem be brought under your feet now

1 Corinthians 15:52- 52 in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.

  • In a moment when Jesus will return in the clouds, at the last trump. The lips of the angels is almost on the trumpet.
  • The second coming of Jesus is near. Be ready! Lord COME FAST! MARANATHA!
  • Even now as you submit to this Word, the anointing of God’s favour will descend upon your issue now. It can be a moment and sometimes it can be a day.

Psalms 30:5- Though weeping may endure for a night but joy returns in the morning.

The Holy Spirit is saying to someone- you don’t need to sleep for more than one night carrying the same burden. You may be anxious and tenses, but you don’t need to sleep the same way for the same reason for the second consecutive night. God is sending a settlement over a matter.

  • According to the Bible, ‘a while’ may mean 3 days. The Book of Hosea says ‘on the third day he will revive you.’
  • ‘A while’ can also be a year. It depends on your faith and your level of surrender.
  • Isac sowed in the land and in the same year he reaped. A year. It took him one year.
  • The Lord will not allow you to celebrate your birthday with the same issue again. Before the next Christmas or the next New Year, Easter, Birthday, the Lord will settle that matter for you. The God of settlement will put an end to the challenge that you are facing.

TO FIND SETTLEMENT FROM GOD, YOU HAVE SETTLE SOME THINGS IN YOUR HEART:

  1. FOR GOD TO SETTLE YOU, YOU NEED TO SETTLE WITH THE WORD OF GOD

Psalm 119:89- Forever, O LORD, Your word [a]is settled in heaven.

  • Pastor says, ‘without me receiving a Word from God, I don’t go anywhere. I have decided a few thing. One is that I do not take up anything without first hearing the voice or receiving the Word of God.’
  • I will spend hours or days in the Presence of God to find a Word from God.
  • Without worshipping I will never preach the Word. I make sure I worship Him for hours in secret.

You have to settle with the Word of God. Once you do that, God’s Word itself will settle your issue or your challenging matter.

  • If it is in the Word, then it will stand. Heaven and earth may pass away His word will still remain.
  1. FOR GOD TO SETTLE YOU, YOU NEED TO SETTLE IN GOD’S HOUSE
  • I was glad when they said to me Let us go to house of the Lord. You are NOT doing anybody a favour by coming to church. If you are rooted in His house, you will become fruitful
  1. FOR GOD TO SETTLE YOU, YOU WILL HAVE TO SETTLE YOUR FAITH ISSUE

Colossians 1:23- if indeed you continue in the faith, grounded and steadfast, and are not moved away from the hope of the gospel which you heard, which was preached to every creature under heaven, of which I, Paul, became a minister.

  • If you are rooted in the faith, God will settle your matter. Some people are so suspicious still. Don’t be critical always. Just receive the Word and respond to it. When His Word gets inside and when you let that Word burn side of you, it will settle you.
  1. FOR GOD TO SETTLE YOU, YOU WILL HAVE TO SETTLE IN A LIFE OF PRAYER
  • Don’t be a prayer project. You have to have a lifestyle of prayer.

You never outgrow prayer.

  • There is no escape from prayer. You have to sit down and pray.
  • Jacob realised that the issue had to be settled. Esau was on his way to see Jacob after several years. Jacob had to set aside everything and pray all night.

You may be having issues in your family or with your neighbours God will put an end to it as you sit in prayer

1 chronicles 4:9-10- 9 Jabez was more honorable than his brothers. His mother had named him Jabez,[a] saying, “I gave birth to him in pain.” 10 Jabez cried out to the God of Israel, “Oh, that you would bless me and enlarge my territory! Let your hand be with me, and keep me from harm so that I will be free from pain.” And God granted his request.

  • Jabez prayed. God heard his prayer. If you pray, God will settle your matters.
  • Whatever is the best time for you, show forth the first and the best for God.
  • When you are the most fresh, don’t do push ups. Worship God. Enter into His presence. Don’t sit there groggy eyed and sleepy. Give God the respect due to Him. Become fresh and bend your knees before Him and call on His name!

Lord, show forth your grace, I want to walk with you!

  • The God will over turn your situations and make all things work for your good. God has kept a time of favour for you. God’s favour will settle things in your life.
  1. FOR GOD TO SETTLE YOU, YOU HAVE TO SETTLE IN YOUR HEART THE LOVE

QUESTION

  • Jesus asks, do you love me? Many people Love God for He does but not for who God is. They love His ability more than His presence.
  • Even if God doesn’t deliver you, we will not bow our knees before another God. That conviction flows out of your love of God. The 4th person in the fire Jesus will show up. Even if nothing happens, I love you Lord.
  1. FOR GOD TO SETTLE YOU, SETTLE YOUR LIFE WITH A SACRIFICE
  • It has to cost you something. Noah got off the Ark and he sacrificed on the altar.
  • God decided to make a covenant and said He will not destroy. When Solomon offered a sacrifice and when God asked him what he wanted, he asked for wisdom. God was pleased, and gave him wealth, prosperity and long life. When they sacrificed a 1000 lams, God heard and the same night God appeared.
  • When you give or do something, if it doesn’t cost you, it doesn’t mean much.
  • Earlier when we gave the little we had, it pinched us. But now we have a lot and we give but there is no sacrifice.
  1. FOR GOD TO SETTLE YOU, YOU NEED TO SETTLE WITH YOUR GOD ORDAINED

PASTOR

You never outgrow the need to be helped in your life.

  • Pastors too need pastors. I have three people over me who are my spiritual mentors. People with whom I can speak out openly and freely.
  • There are several pastors in this world. They are not meant to dance to your tunes. You have to follow the Shepherd. If the shepherd is running after you, it is only because you are fallen into a pit.
  • God can never settle somebody who have never settled himself with God.
  • Pastor is not the one who settles you. But it is god who SETTLES You.

1 Peter 5: 10- But [a]may the God of all grace, who called [b]us to His eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a while, [c]perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle you.

God who settles us
